Welcome! Willkommen! Bienvenidos!

Harmony, Unity, Wholeness, and Justice, Peace, and Salvation—all are Shalom. Welcome to FUMC, where it is our desire to be a place of Shalom for all, a faith community joining together in the movement towards God’s vision for the world.

Prayers for Revitalisation

As we seek to revitalise, revision, and gain new life as a congregation, we recognise the importance of prayer. We must seek God's will, for it is only God who can revive us and give us new purpose, passion, and mission. And so we pray:

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we pray for the revitalisation of this congregation. Give us new and renewed vision, purpose, and passion, O Lord, that we may love you and love our neighbours more deeply.

More prayers for revitalisation are available in an attachment -- click the link on the bottom left of this post. Let us seek the wisdom and will of the Lord together!

MCC Festival for World Relief

The annual MCC Relief Sale will take place on Sept 15th and 16th at the Tradex Convention Centre in Abbotsford!

This sale raises money for the Mennonite Central Committee, which is a global humanitarian organisation seeking to bring relief, peace, and development in the name of Christ. Come on out for some great food, beautiful quilts and other handmade items, and support the work of the MCC.

(If you would like to contribute to the festival, you are invited to contribute to the bake sale. Baked goods are to be wrapped in clear plastic and leabelled with the name of the item and all the ingredients. Labels are available for pickup in the church office.)

Mennonite Church Canada Updates and Prayer Requests

MC Canada Special Assembly (Oct. 13-15): Discernment documents have now been released for this very important assembly, in which we will discuss and vote on a plan for denominational restructuring. See more details at Our delegates for this meeting will Lydia Cruttwell and John & Joan Goossen, so please feel free to talk to them if you have any questions or feedback about these documents.

Let's "Walk the Talk" of Reconciliation: Mennonite Church Canada's Director of Indigenous Relations, Steve Heinrichs, is encouraging all MC Canada church members to show their support for Bill C-262, which calls on the Government of Canada to adopt and implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. More information can be found at or at our church building on Sunday, and postcards of support for the bill are available as well.

Praying for the Democratic Republic of Congo: The Kasai region of the DR Congo is experiencing horrific violence which has killed thousands of people and displaced an estimated 1.4 million. Mennonite Church Canada is collaborating with six partners in an Anabaptist response to the armed conflict by sending food, household items, and shelter supplies to the region. To learn more, including how you can support these efforts, see this website. Please pray for those who are affected by the conflict and those who are responding to it. May the light and grace of Jesus soften hearts and sow peace.

September Events at our Church

A whole bunch of meetings and events are happening as we move into the fall. We'd love to have you join us at any or all of these!

Drop-in Centre: Our outreach to local kids begins again, this year on Wednesdays and Thursdays 3-5pm. First drop-in will be Thursday Sept 7th, and we're always looking for new volunteers!

Community Dinner: As part of expanding our drop-in ministry, we'd like to host a community dinner on Thursday Sept 21st at 6pm. Contact Lydia Cruttwell or Chris Banfield if you want to help with setup, cooking or hosting!

Prayer and Communion: Our monthly prayer meetings start up again on Wed. Sept 6th at 7:30pm.

Poetry & Parable Smallgroup: Lydia would like to lead a small group looking at the sayings of Jesus, and some poetry on those sayings written by Anglican Christian Malcolm Guite. This small group will likely meet on Wednesday evenings twice a month in Sept, Oct. and November. Please let Lydia know if you're interested in attending.

May God guide us this fall as we seek to pray and follow Jesus, care for one another, and reach out to our neighbours!
