Vote on Name Change this Sunday!

We'll be having a brief congregational meeting this Sunday, June 3rd, to discuss and vote on the following motion:

Motion: That FUMC change its name to “Peace Church on 52nd”.

Attached is the rationale of why the Vision Committee and Church Council are endorsing this name, and why we think it'll help us move forward with revitalisation. Please come on out this Sunday and make your voice heard!

Upcoming Special Services and Meetings

Special Services in May:

Sunday May 20th: Service at 10:30am at Camp Squeah (as part of our retreat)
Sunday May 27th: Joint Pentecost Service at 4:30pm with FUSMC (including a potluck dinner afterwards -- please bring some food to share!)

NOTE: On both of these Sundays, we will not be having our regular 10am service at the church building. Feel free to visit another church if you're in Vancouver and would like to go to a service in the morning!

Congregational Meetings:

Sunday June 3rd: Brief meeting to vote on name change (see green sheet on the bulletin board downstairs for more details)
Sunday June 24th: Congregational Meeting (with lunch)
Please mark your calendars and plan to be there, especially if you are a member!

Community Dinner: Thursday May 24th!

Come join us for our next Community Dinner on Thursday May 24th at 6pm. All are welcome, and bring a friend, so that we can get to know each other and our neighbours better!

Community Dinner: Tuesday April 24th

Come on out for our next Community Dinner on Tuesday April 24th at 6pm. These are great times of food and fellowship with our church community, ELL students from Kingcrest, and folks from our neighbourhood. Come on out to make some new friends and have a great meal!

(if you'd like to help out, please let Lydia or Adam know -- we'd love to have a 'cleanup crew' so that our hardworking cooks don't have to do all the work afterwards.)

Mennonite Central Committee Fundraising Concert!

"Sharing in Song"
May 5th, 2018, 7pm
Gateway Church in Abbotsford

Sharing in Song, produced by violinist Calvin Dyck in partnership with MCC BC, promises to be an evening of inspiring music, heartwarming stories and a window into the work of MCC in East Africa. The evening will feature Calvin and a number of his friends, including the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir, The Alumni Project and the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra. A highlight of the evening will be the Moipei Trio, from Nairobi, Kenya. The trio of singers, who are triplets, have performed on tour in the US, have appeared multiple times on Kenya TV, and are currently completing their university degrees in the US.
