Job Opportunity: Community Engagement Worker

Are you interested in engaging with neighbourhood kids and helping to show the love of God in South Vancouver? If so, please consider becoming our new "Community Engagement Worker" -- a part time position which involves our youth drop-in centre and our monthly community dinner programs, as well as other opportunities for missional neighbourhood engagement. See attached for more details and where to submit a resume -- we have extended the deadline, so applications are due in by Friday August 31st!

Tuesday Morning Prayer

Come join us every Tuesday morning at 7am for a short time of prayer for our congregation, our neighbourhoods, and our world. We pray either in the sanctuary or on the front steps of the church, depending on the weather, and there's muffins/coffee available afterwards. For those who have jobs to get to, you can be done and on your way again before 8am.

Come join us in giving thanks and offering petitions to our loving Lord!

Fraser River Cleanup Day! (August 25th)

Inspired by the Mennonite Creation Care Network, we want to spend a few hours cleaning up our local section of the Fraser River. Please meet at 9am on Saturday August 25th in the Sherbrooke Church parking lot (7155 Sherbrooke St.), and bring water bottles, waders (if you have them), gloves, and work clothes. We'll provide the water, snacks, garbage bags, and directions on where to clean! You can also bring a bag lunch if you want to stick around after we're done and have lunch in Riverfront Park afterwards.

Praying Together

Every Tuesday morning at 7am, you are invited to join Adam in the sanctuary to pray for our church, our neighbourhoods, and the world. Prayer lasts until about 7:45am, and there's coffee (and sometimes muffins!) afterward.

Also, on Wednesday August 8th, we have our monthly "Prayer and Communion" service (led by Lydia) in the church basement at 7:30pm.

Please join us in the crucial practice of making our thanksgivings and petitions known to our Heavenly Father!

MCC Warehouse Volunteer Day (Thursday August 8th)

Let's join in the good work of the MCC -- peace, relief and development in the name of Christ - by helping out at their Abbotsford warehouse! We'll leave from Vancouver at 9am, and aim to get back at 4pm, and carpooling is available. If you would like to go, please let Lydia know after she returns on August 2nd. If you can't go, but would still like to contribute, please put donations for relief kits (i.e. new bath soaps, adult toothbrushes, new bath towels in bright or dark colours) in the white container in the foyer. More details on what can be donated can be found at mcccanada.ca/get-involved/kits.
