Upcoming Events

Three Upcoming Events at our Church:

1. Prayer and Communion Service: 7:30pm on January 3rd in the Church Building

2. Open House for Adam's Studio: Our new co-pastor is an accomplished painter, and we are delighted to have converted a small room in our Ed. Building for him to use as a studio. If you want to come by and see it, or have a chance to talk with Adam one-on-one, come to the basement of the Education Building (660 East 51st Ave.) next Saturday, January 6th, from 9:30am to 12.

3. Installation for Adam Back as FUMC's Pastor: Happening on Sunday January 7th, during our 10am worship service!

Small Groups are Coming!

As part of our revitalisation, we're looking to have more small groups at our church -- not only does this provide a way for us to grow closer to one another and deepen our relationship with God, it also provides a place for newcomers to connect with our community. Stay tuned for upcoming details about various different bible studies and prayer groups that you could join!

Christmas Services and Special Events!

Sat. Dec. 9th, 5:30pm: FUMC Christmas Banquet (please sign up downstairs before Tuesday, Dec 5th!)
Fri. Dec. 15th, 6:30pm: Drop-in/Outreach Event -- Hot Chocolate and Christmas Movies (in church basement)
Sun. Dec 24th, 6pm: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Mon. Dec. 25th, 11:30am: Christmas Day Potluck (church basement)
And of course, our regular worship services continue every Sunday at 10am (including on Dec. 24th)!

Christmas Henderson Hampers

Once again, our Outreach & Service Committee is working with Henderson Elementary School to provide gifts and household items for 10 neighbourhood families in need. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please bring in canned food items (soups, fish, beans, canned fruits and vegetables) or unopened dry goods (rice, pasta, crackers, tea & hot chocolate) by next Sunday, December 10th, when the hampers will be put together after the service.

Small Group Feedback & Suggestions

As our Vision Committee continues to think about ways for our church to revitalise, one of our major topics of discussion has been small groups. While in the past we had a number of 'care groups', over the last number of years they've dwindled, and we want to get them re-started sometime in the new year. This is important for revitalisation and mission because it not only provides a place where regular attenders can grow deeper in relationship with one another and with God, it also provides an 'on ramp' for newcomers to start getting involved in our community beyond Sunday mornings.

If you have any feedback for us about what format/structure would work best for you in a small group (size, format of the meeting, meeting time and frequency, etc.) please pass these comments on to anyone from the Vision Committee -- Lydia Cruttwell, Rose Bergen, Adam Back, Hans-Gerhard Fast, Jon Janzen, and Elizabeth Penner.
