FUMC is Hiring: Full Time Co-Pastor

Are you excited to help a church revision and deeply consider what it means to be Christ’s example of peace? Do you have a heart for welcoming people of diverse backgrounds into community?

Our church (FUMC) is looking for a co-pastor to engage and serve our culturally diverse urban neighbourhood. We hold to the Anabaptist theology, are members of Mennonite Church BC and Mennonite Church Canada, and are looking for a pastor to join our team as we continue to develop our relationships with Christ, each other and the community.

Ideal candidates would have the following:

- Capacity to relate to various age groups and cultures
- Experience working in a church setting – in the areas of preaching and worship, pastoral care, nurturing gifts within the laity
- Commitment to Anabaptist theology and practice.
- Post-secondary religious education

We are looking for someone who is outgoing and can relate to a variety of people. Someone who has a missional outlook and a servant’s heart. We are willing to look outside the box in the way that we do church, as long as it includes following Jesus and his teachings.

For more details on the position, click '1 attachment' at the bottom of this post and download the pdf.

Please submit letters of interest and résumés to Liz, Pastor Search Committee Member, via email (lizepp@gmail.com) by July 28, 2017.

New Website!

Our fancy new website, peacechurchon52.ca, is finally up and running! A few sections are still under construction (especially the sermon and calendar pages), but it's got a bunch of our current events on it, and we're really excited about this new online home for our church.

Please go check it out, and be sure to let Adam, Lydia, or Elizabeth Penner know if you find any dead links or missing content!

New Name Launch Day!

On Sunday October 28th, we will be officially launching our new name, Peace Church on 52nd! We'll be having a worship service at 10am, and then a luncheon and neighbourhood celebrating on 12. This is also the date when we'll be launching our new website, www.peacechurchon52.ca (you can't seen anything there yet, but we're working hard behind the scenes to get it ready) -- a new online home for our church!

If you would like to help with any aspect of our launch day (setup, cooking, cleanup, maybe renting a dunk tank or getting a pinata?), please let Lydia or Adam know.

October Community Dinner

Our next Community Dinner will be on Tuesday, October 23rd, at 6pm. Come join us, and bring some friends and neighbours as well!

Giving Thanks!

We are grateful for the abudant harvest represented in our display of fruits, vegetables, and canned goods this Sunday, all of which will be going to the MCC Refugee Food Bank on Monday. And we are grateful for our guest speaker, Mulanda Jimmy Juma, who will be speaking to us about peacemaking, thanksgiving, and his experience as the MCC Coordinator for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
